Rohtak: Deepika of Vivekanand Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Chillar in Rewari district, scored 99.8% marks to top the Class XII examinations. Daughter of a govt teacher, Deepika scored 499 out of 500 in the Arts stream, emerging as the overall topper in Haryana.Deepika said she never attended tuition classes and relied solely on self-study. "Self-study was my success mantra," she said.Deepika aspires to be an IAS officer. She said she would prepare for the UPSC examination during her graduation years.Deepika was closely followed by Udita of Vishvavara Kanya Gurukul, Rurki in Rohtak. She scored 99.6% (489 out of 500) marks to bag the second position.Udita, who hails from Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh, said she wanted to join the Indian Army and had already started preparing for the National Defence Academy (NDA) examination.Yogita from Shiksha Bharti Global School in Jind and Muskan from Gyan Bharti Public School, Dhamtan Sahib in Jind district, shared third position with 497 marks each.Both girls belong to farming families and aspire to join the civil services. The toppers credited self-study, discipline and teachers' guidance for their success.
