CHANDIGARH: Recovery of an unattended outdoor broadcasting (OB) van from the premises of Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters in Sirsa has been described as “suspicious” by court commissioner AKS Panwar in his report submitted to the
Punjab and
Haryana high court.
Following the violence in parts of Haryana after the conviction of dera head
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in rape cases on August 25, the high court had appointed Panwar as its commissioner to carry out sanitisation of the Dera headquarters in Sirsa.
Panwar has also urged the high court in his report to investigate whether the OB van was used for any “espionage activity or to disseminate secret information abroad.”
“If (the van) is found capable of being used in any acts of espionage and to disseminate secret information abroad, the HC may in such eventuality consider the desirability of instructing the SP Sirsa to look into the security concerns of the government and also to find owner of the vehicle,” the court commissioner said in the report.
The court commissioner made the suggestion after Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS) management failed to provide any information about the presence of the OB van during the sanitisation process. The van was recovered from an area, identified as “sector-2” for sanitization purposes, in the dera. “The
DSS management could neither produce ownership documents nor was it able to explain the manner in which the OB van was obtained by the Sirsa headquarters and had reached its premises. The van was seized,” the court commissioner said in his voluminous report.
During the inspection, ownership of several other vehicles found parked in the dera premises could not be established. The commissioner observed that the vehicles were either stolen or had been acquired illegally. “The details of all such vehicles was prepared and sent for verification to Regional Transport Authority, Sirsa which has already submitted a report in the matter. The district administration and police department can therefore, consider the desirability of taking appropriated action against the DSS management in respect of the vehicles that may be stolen or illegally acquired,” the court commissioner wrote.
