Anbumani accuses Stalin of misleading TN assembly by claiming of fulfilling 99% poll promises

CHENNAI: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday accused Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin of misleading the assembly by claiming that 99% of the DMK’s 2021 election promises to govt employees and teachers had been fulfilled.In a statement, Anbumani slammed Stalin's assembly remarks, in which the chief minister asserted that leaders of various trade unions had given him sweets in gratitude. He mocked the ‘sweets’ episode as a staged event with DMK allies. "Assembly is a sacred space for truth, not lies," he said.

"Out of 10 promises, only one has been kept, raising family welfare aid from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh for families of deceased officials/ teachers," Anbumani said.He listed the unkept promises -- restoring the old pension scheme, extending equal pay for intermediate teachers, regularising the services of midday meal/ anganwadi workers and hiking old age pension based on age, among others.
