Car rally flagged off ahead of Navy Day
Chennai: Ahead of the Navy Day celebrations in Dec, a car rally from Chennai to Kanyakumari was flagged off on Friday by Rear admiral Ravi Kumar Dhingra, flag officer commanding, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Area, at the naval station Indian Naval Ship, Adyar.
Covering around 1,800 kilometres along the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts, the rally will touch historic maritime locations.
En route, participants will engage with students at educational institutions to raise awareness about the Indian Navy, its traditions, disaster relief operations, international relations, and career opportunities.
The rally will conclude at Thuckalay in Kanyakumari district on Oct 21.
Indian Navy Day, celebrated annually on Dec 4, to remember its significant contribution during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, which aided the creation of Bangladesh.
