International probe, referendum, only path to justice for Eelam Tamils: Ramadoss
VILLUPURAM: PMK founder S Ramadoss, while marking the 17th anniversary of the Mullivaikkal massacre, asserted that an international investigation and a UN-monitored referendum are the only viable routes to securing justice for Eelam Tamils.
Paying tribute to the thousands of lives lost during the final phase of the Sri Lankan civil war, Ramadoss, in a statement, described the tragedy as an "unhealed scar" on the history of Eelam Tamils and a shock to the collective conscience of the global Tamil community.
Ramadoss reiterated his long-standing position that the events in the final stages of the war were not a conventional domestic conflict, but a systematic, premeditated genocide orchestrated by the Sri Lankan state.
"To secure justice for this horrific brutality, the Sri Lankan govt must be brought before the International Court of Justice for its war crimes and human rights violations. Our resolute demand is for an international judicial inquiry under the direct supervision of the United Nations, ensuring that war criminals are properly punished," he said.
