Following the interim budget, there will be a debate on the proposals, after which Thennarasu will give a reply. The duration of the assembly session will be decided after a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee, to be held following the budget presentation. Appavu added that steps have been taken to ensure that the entire session is telecast live. As Tamil Nadu is set to face assembly elections in April, the incumbent DMK government will present only an interim budget. The full budget will be presented by the new government formed after the elections. Debate on demand for grants will take place only when a general budget is presented.
