Two medicos die as car crashes into median, overturns near Karanodai flyover in Tiruvallur district
Chennai: Two third-year medical students died, and two of their classmates suffered injuries after their car crashed into a median and overturned near Karanodai flyover in Tiruvallur district during the early hours of Saturday.
Police said P Amrish, 23, of Madurai; S Saran, 23, of Dharmapuri; A Mukesh, 21; and R Aban, 23, studied at a private medical college in Manjankaranai near Periyapalayam in Tiruvallur district. They left for Red Hills late on Friday night to visit a friend and were returning to their residence near Ponneri when the accident occurred around 2.30 am.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Mukesh, who was driving the car, lost control of the vehicle while approaching the Karanodai flyover. The car crashed into a median and overturned, leaving the four students severely injured.
Amrish and Saran died on the spot. Upon information, police personnel from Red Hills traffic investigation wing reached the place and sent the injured students to a hospital. The bodies of the deceased were recovered and sent to Govt Stanley Medical College Hospital in Chennai for postmortem.
Police registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and began an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident.
