Woman receives skull and bones in parcel

Chennai: A woman at a hardware shop in Parrys received a parcel on Friday containing a human skull, three bone fragments and a packet of ash — a discovery that has left city police searching for answers about who sent it and why.

The parcel was handed to a security guard, Krishna Lal, 59, at the shop by an unidentified person. It was addressed to Shruti, 29, an accountant at the establishment.


When Lal called to inform her of the delivery, she told him she was not expecting a package and knew nothing about it. The guard then alerted the shop's owner, Jitendhar. The two men opened the parcel in front of other employees, revealing the human remains and the packet of ash.

Esplanade police, who were alerted by the security guard, Lal, sent the remains for forensic examination to determine their origin and age. Police are examining CCTV footage and conducting an investigation to identify the person who delivered the parcel. TNN
