A few minutes after consuming alcohol, Muthukumaran created a ruckus thereby disturbing other patients.
The other patients alerted the hospital administration. A village administrative officer (VAO), who visited the facility, made an elaborate inquiry and found that Muthukumaran was under the influence of alcohol. The VAO preferred to lodge a complaint with the Chidambaram Annamalai Nagar police.
The police booked the husband-wife duo under sections 294 B (obscene acts and songs), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 271 (disobedience to quarantine rule) of the Indian Penal Code and began investigations.
