ERODE: Erode-Salem CSI diocese bishop Jacob Livingston was found dead underneath a flyover near the Government General Hospital here on Saturday morning. He was 53. Police were investigating if he died after falling off the flyover by accident or if it was a case of suicide. The Erode Town police said Livingston was walking on the flyover near the Erode Government General Hospital in the morning. "Suddenly, he fell off the flyover. It is not clear he jumped off the flyover or if he fell after suffering dizziness. We have sent the body for postmortem," said a police officer.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that Livingston had been admitted to a hospital recently due to some health problems.Livingston, who hails from Kangeyam in Tirupur district, took charge as the bishop of Erode-Salem diocese on Aug 16, 2025. Erode-Salem diocese covers Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Kallakurichi districts.Livingston is survived by his wife, Helena Amuda, and daughter, Johanna.
