Karur woman’s murder: Anbumani slams DMK govt for 'deteriorating law and order'
CHENNAI: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss condemned DMK govt for “deteriorating law and order to such a point where even elderly citizens are not safe in their own homes.”
Citing the murder of an elderly woman at her residence in Salaipatti village near Karur, he said the assailants had tied her limbs before killing her and fleeing with her gold earrings and nose stud.
In a post on X, Anbumani said, “It is shocking that unidentified people have murdered the elderly woman living alone after tying her limbs, just to rob her of small pieces of jewellery. This heartless act shows the collapse of state's security apparatus.”
He urged police to expedite the investigation and bring the culprits to justice immediately. He called upon the caretaker administration and the police department to ensure that “at least in the remaining week of the DMK’s term”, safety and peace of citizens are guaranteed.
“Even as this govt nears its end, people are unable to live in peace,” Anbumani said. “While the public has already delivered its verdict in the recently concluded election to punish this administration, murders, robberies, and drug-related atrocities continue unabated,” he said.
Police are currently scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas and questioning known offenders in the locality to track down the killers.
