The BJP has registered a historic victory in the Gujarat local body elections, winning all 15 municipal corporations. The party has also crossed the 50 per cent mark in each of the corporations.

The ruling party also performed well in district and taluka panchayats, indicating continued consolidation of support beyond urban centres.

While some municipal wards witnessed close contests, Opposition parties were unable to consistently challenge BJP’s dominance in urban local governance bodies.

Rural and taluka-level bodies witnessed relatively higher voter turnout compared to urban areas, reflecting stronger grassroots engagement.

The elections covered 15 municipal corporations, 84 municipalities, 34 district panchayats and 260 taluka panchayats, underlining the scale and complexity of the multi-level local governance system.
