Man dies as portion of house roof collapses on him in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: A 35-year-old man died after a portion of the concrete roof of a house collapsed on him in Bharathi Nagar Third Street at Ramanathapuram in Coimbatore in the early hours of Saturday.
The deceased has identified as K Vinoth Kannan. Police said he had been residing in a rental house with his wife Sharu, 26, two daughters and his father Krishnan, 60, for the last eight years.
Vinoth Kannan was engaged in manufacturing of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) doors for houses and offices.
He was sleeping under the ceiling fan in the hall of the house. Around 1.45am on Saturday, a portion of the concrete roof collapsed on him. He died on the spot.
The family members came out of the house and alerted the neighbours and the Ramanathapuram police.
The police sent the dead body to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Further investigations were on.
