UTTARKASHI: A tourist vehicle crashed in the Naugaon area of Uttarkashi district on the Yamunotri highway on Monday evening, injuring at least 11 people, including its driver. The injured are residents of Seoni district in Madhya Pradesh and were on their way to the Yamunotri shrine from Dehradun. The van fell into a 10-metre-deep gorge near Chamrota village after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The injured were transferred to a community health centre in Naugaun by police and local residents. Two people, who were reported to be critical, were referred to Dehradun.
In-charge of Purola police station, Ravi Prasad, said, “The vehicle was ferrying 11 pilgrims. Its driver lost control while giving way to another vehicle near the Chamrota village.”
