Haridwar: A 16-year-old boy was apprehended by police on Saturday for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in Haridwar district. Police produced the boy before the juvenile justice board which sent him to a correction home.
Police said the alleged
rape came to light when the girl's parents took her to a hospital after she complained of pain and discomfort. Doctors there found she was eight months pregnant.
SSI city Virendra Ramola told TOI, "The girl's family approached the police, and we filed a complaint under relevant sections of BNS and Pocso Act. We conducted a medical examination of the girl, and after recording her statement, the accused boy was apprehended."
