RUDRAPUR: A 36-year-old assistant manager of a private firm was found dead after allegedly “killing himself” in a locked room of a villa in Rudrapur’s Pantnagar police station limits on Tuesday, police said.
According to officials, a woman dialled ‘112’ at 1:16 pm and informed the cops that she had left for her parental home in Uttar Pradesh following a dispute with her husband.
“She told us that her husband had made a video call, threatening to harm himself, after which his phone was unreachable,” said SI Anil Mehta.
Acting swiftly, a police team reached the villa. With the help of locals, officers broke open the door of the first-floor room, where the man was found hanging. He was declared dead.
The deceased was identified as Javed Arif, a resident of Haridwar district. “Prima facie, it is a case of suicide. The body has been sent for postmortem,” Mehta said, adding that the family has been informed.
