Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami pledges to upgrade stadiums

The 23rd National Youth Volleyball Championship kick-started in Rudrapur on Monday. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the tournament held at Manoj Sarkar district sports stadium in the city. He appreciated all the participating players and assured them that the government will provide support and help to players. He added that the stadiums will be upgraded.

RUDRAPUR: The 23rd National Youth Volleyball Championship kick-started in Rudrapur on Monday.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the tournament held at Manoj Sarkar district sports stadium in the city. He appreciated all the participating players and assured them that the government will provide support and help to players. He added that the stadiums will be upgraded.

"We aim to provide a platform to the young talent. We have no dearth of talent. Being one of the least expensive to start with, volleyball needs the desired fillip," CM Dhami said. He also announced government jobs in group C and D categories for the players, who win medals in this tournament. The six-day long tournament has been organised by Uttarakhand Olympic Association and state Volleyball Association. More than 1,000 players and official staff representing 30 teams from 28 states are participating in the tournament, which will culminate on April 16.
This championship is being held for the first time in Uttarakhand since the formation of the state. There are 28 mens' teams from 26 states and two union territories of Jammu and Ladakh.
