Five people booked for duping woman of Rs 15 lakh, one of them booked under rape charge as well

Dehradun: Five people, involved in occult practices, were booked for duping a 26-year-old woman of Rs 15 lakh under the pretext of warding off an ‘evil eye’. Among the five accused, one Amir Siddiqui was also booked under rape charge. The case has been lodged in Dehradun’s Kotwali police station.
According to the complaint, the five accused took Rs 15 lakh from the woman in return for warding off an ‘evil eye’.Thereafter, Siddiqui allegedly raped the woman and recorded the act and used the clip to blackmail her.
While Siddiqui has been booked under sections 376 (rape) and 384 (extortion) of the IPC, the others have been charged for extortion.
