Supreme Court verdict awaited: Will Arvind Kejriwal get bail in Delhi excise case?
Arvind Kejriwal has filed two petitions challenging the denial of bail and his arrest by the CBI in a corruption case.
The AAP leader, arrested by the CBI on June 26, has moved the Supreme Court against the Delhi high court's August 5 ruling, which upheld his arrest.
The high court stated that Kejriwal’s arrest followed the closure of evidence collection and was not without justification. It also granted him the option to seek bail from a trial court.

Arvind Kejriwal Supreme Court Verdict Live Updates: 'Insurance arrest'
Kejriwal has filed two petitions—one challenging the denial of bail and the other contesting his arrest by the CBI. After a full-day hearing on September 5, the court reserved its decision on his bail plea.
Kejriwal argued that he wasn't a flight risk, a hardened criminal, or a threat to society, making him eligible for bail. However, the CBI countered, expressing concerns that he might influence witnesses if released.
Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, pointed out that almost all the other accused in both the CBI and ED cases had already been granted bail. He also argued that Kejriwal’s arrest was unlawful, as proper legal procedures were not followed, calling it an "insurance arrest" to ensure his continued imprisonment.
The Supreme Court is set to announce its decision on Friday regarding the bail plea of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the 2021-22 state excise policy corruption case.
The verdict, reserved on September 5, will be delivered by a bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan at 10:30 am. The bench will also rule on the legality of Kejriwal's arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation, which the CM has challenged.
