New Delhi: Former AAP member and lawyer
Prashant Bhushan on Sunday tweeted that Sharad Chauhan was among the 10-odd Vidhan Sabha candidates that he had highlighted as being unfit to represent the party. “We objected to giving a ticket to this muscleman known to use money and liquor. An AAP volunteer names him in suicide note. Vendetta?!” he tweeted.
He also released an excerpt from his report on Chauhan that said: “Another run-of-the-mill politician-cum-property dealer, this one from BSP.
Has been a councillor from Bakhtararpur ward, currently represented by his wife. Campaigned for Kuldip Bishnoi in Haryana. He and his wife have poor track record of work. Allegations of facilitating illegal construction of warehouses in residential plots at Rs 500 per sq ft. His lifestyle (travels in Mercedes, with two gunmen, has farmhouse and godown) does not match his affidavit of 2008. Known to use money and liquor in elections.”
AAP members, however, rubbished the claims. “Concerns raised by Bhushan had been checked out by the party lokpal and Chauhan’s name was cleared. It is totally mischevious to raise this matter right now,” said a member.
