Man dies, friend injured in suspected hit and run on Ring Road flyover
New Delhi: In a case of suspected hit-and-run, a 24-year-old man was killed and his friend was seriously injured after their scooter was allegedly struck by an unidentified vehicle on the Ring Road flyover in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh on Tuesday morning.The deceased has been identified as Vijay, a resident of Rohini Sector 20. His friend, Monu (25), a resident of Aman Vihar, sustained serious injuries in the collision and is undergoing treatment. Vijay reportedly earned his livelihood by playing the dhol at weddings and local functions.

"Preliminary inquiry revealed that the two had visited Vijay's sister's house in Naraina around 5.30 am and left around half an hour later," said DCP (west) Darade Sharad Bhaskar, adding that they were returning to Rohini when the incident occurred on the flyover. Another senior police officer said, "We found that the two-wheeler appeared to have been hit by a heavy vehicle, possibly a car." A case has been registered at the Punjabi Bagh police station under sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS.Police are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle involved and apprehend the driver.
