No entry fee at DDA’s parks till 10 am
New Delhi: In a major relief to morning walkers, joggers and fitness enthusiasts, entry fees are going to be waived at parks managed by Delhi Development Authority. Lieutenant governor TS Sandhu on Thursday stated that no fee shall be charged till 10 am at DDA’s parks and heritage sites. The prominent places covered under this initiative include Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Baansera, Asita, Kranti Udhyan, Vatika, Atal Sadbhavana Park, Vasudev Ghat, Vaishnavi Park, Amrut Bio-Diversity Park, Lala Hardayal Park (Jasola) and Smriti Van (Narela). Hundreds of people visit these places during morning hours every day.The decision goes with the PM’s vision to promote Fit India Movement, said LG.The authority had begun implementing entry fees at certain public parks, such as the 36-acre Sector 16D park in Dwarka and Baansera last year. The decision had drawn flak from morning walkers.DDA manages over 16,000 acres of green assets, including more than 700 parks, biodiversity zones, city forests, regional parks and neighbourhood gardens.
