NEW DELHI: A lookout circular has been issued against a man named Kunal Chhabra, aka KC, who is allegedly connected to the killing of Dubai-based entrepreneur Nadir Shah. KC, cops said, was a history sheeter and an accused in four FIRs registered by special cell. He is learnt to have fled to Portugal via Dubai.
Shah was gunned down by a group of assailants in south Delhi's GK-I on Thursday night, a hit supposedly ordered by jailed gangster
Lawrence Bishnoi.
KC was a close associate of Shah, and a multi-crore transaction between the two had allegedly irked Bishnoi. Cops may seek a court nod to visit Gujarat jail to question Bishnoi in the case. Bishnoi cannot be moved from there as govt has invoked Section 268 (1) of Code of Criminal Procedure in his case to exclude him from productions. The order is issued on the likelihood of 'disturbance of public order' if the person in question is allowed to be removed from prison.
Meanwhile, a hunt continues for the main shooters Madhur, alias Mota, and Raju, who work for gangster Hashim Baba and are absconding. TOI had first disclosed their identity and role in the murder on Saturday.
The duo was joined by four others who arrived in the city from Azamgarh on Thursday and stayed in Jamia Nagar.
The shooters had also come to the city a week before the incident and done a reconnaissance of Surya hotel in southeast Delhi, sources said. Hashim's men allegedly provided them with logistical support and weapons. They reached the gym in GK-I in an autorickshaw and a two-wheeler.
After the murder, the assailants fled to Seelampur, changed clothes and went in different directions.
Around midnight, a Facebook account in the name of Rohit Godara claimed responsibility for the murder. Godara, a close associate of Bishnoi, is either in Portugal or the US. Police have, meanwhile, identified the woman who was with Shah at the time of the incident. Her statement was being recorded. On Tuesday, the cops will approach the court and seek custody of gangster Hashim from jail. Shah's iphones remain locked. The phones hold the key to the murder, cops suspect.
