GURGAON: Nuh violence accused Bittu Bajrangi alias Raj Kumar was arrested on Sunday night for allegedly beating up a man at his house in Faridabad’s Parvatiya Colony on April 1. He was out on bail in the Nuh riots case.
A video of the incidenthad gone viral on social media. A case was registered under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (offences committed with a common intent) against Bittu at Saran police station upon a complaint filed by Shyamu, a factory worker, from Baba Mandi in Sanjay Enclave.
According to police, Shyamu was picked up by a few men when he took two minor girls to a grocery store at Sanjay Enclave after they approached him for chocolates
“I offered chocolates to the two girls from my neighbourhood in Sanjay Enclave.
Locals misunderstood me and took me to Bittu’s house. Without even asking me what I had done, Bittu started assaulting me thinking that I belong to another community. He also threatened to kill me. I suffered severe injuries on my hands and head. While assaulting me, they recorded a video and posted it on social media,” Shyamu alleged in his complaint.
A preliminary inquiry revealed that the man in police uniform standing near Bittu in the video was special police officer (SPO) Pramod who has been posted at Saran police station. He was deployed for security duties of Bittu after the latter received threat calls following his arrest in Nuh violence case.
Later, a case under Pocso Act was registered against Shyamu on the complaint of a girl’s father who alleged the former misbehaved with her daughter on the pretext of buying her chocolates.
