12-year-old boy dies after iron gate collapses on him in Sahibabad

GHAZIABAD: A 12-year-old boy died after an iron gate of an under-construction godown in Sahibabad collapsed on him while playing on Sunday afternoon.

"The incident took place near Seema police chowki of Sahibabad around 3.30pm on Sunday. Around four to five children, who lived in the same locality, were playing near the godown," said Poonam Mishra, the assistant commissioner of police, Sahibabad.

The boy, identified as Prince, was standing near the gate while playing when it suddenly collapsed on him.

"Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries in the evening," added Mishra.

Cops said the boy's family has filed a complaint in the case. "Following an investigation, necessary action would be taken," the officer told TOI.
