Panaji: Ramakrishna Nikharge, 29, was killed, and Ganpat Kerkar, 27, injured after they were hit by a goods carrier vehicle at Agarwada, Pernem, on Monday. The incident occurred when the truck collided with a scooter near the Agarwada Bhodkedhenu Devasthan junction.
Nikharge succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the Tuem community health centre. Both are from Sindhudurg, Maharashtra.
The Mandrem police said that the accident took place at approximately 10am.
The driver of the goods carrier vehicle, accused of rash and negligent driving, allegedly crashed into the oncoming scooter, causing severe injuries to both Nikharge and Kerkar. The police registered a case under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation is currently ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
