South Goa collector Sandeep Jacques on Thursday convened a meeting of stakeholder-agencies with a view to review the current situation in the areas that were affected by the recent naphtha leakage and subsequent fire at Vasco.

MARGAO: South Goa collector Sandeep Jacques on Thursday convened a meeting of stakeholder-agencies with a view to review the current situation in the areas that were affected by the recent naphtha leakage and subsequent fire at Vasco.
Representatives of the Zuari Indian oil tanking limited (ZIOTL), Mormugao port trust (MPT) and Indian oil corporation (IOC), besides SDM Mormugao, Levinson Martins, and senior police officials attended the meeting.

As there were reports about presence of traces of naphtha in the affected areas still, the district magistrate directed all concerned agencies to keep a close watch on the situation and take effective measures.
The district administration, sources informed, is awaiting the report from the chief controller of explosives, Nagpur, to determine the future course of action.
