PANAJI: Goa police on Thursday searched a cafe and hostel at Ashvem and arrested two persons for running a drug den. Five foreigners who had been staying at the guest house without filing police verification forms were also detained.
After the raid, which resulted in the seizure of ganja and charas from the premises, North Goa SP Utkrisht Prasoon said the state’s police force had zero tolerance for drug trafficking.

Anti-narcotic cell SP Shobit Saxena said the raid was conducted soon after police received information that one person had been operating a cafe and hostel that allowed foreigners to stay without police verification.
“When police personnel attached to the North Goa district, the ANC and the special branch reached the spot, they noticed that the owner of the cafe and hostel had laid a table where foreigners sat and consumed drugs,” Saxena said, adding that the two persons arrested in the case were both non-Goan.
“The owner was found to be keeping foreigners without submitting the requisite ‘C Form’ and the deputy collector has been requested to lock down and seal the said premises,” Saxena said.
