AR, Mizoram Police seize foreign-made arms, 3 held
Aizawl: In a joint operation, Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police arrested three persons and seized two foreign-made pistols in Aizawl's Chanmari West locality.
According to information received here on Sunday, the raid was conducted on Friday, following specific intelligence inputs regarding an alleged illegal arms transaction in the region.
Security officers said Assam Rifles personnel, in coordination with Vaivakawn police station, carried out a search operation at hardware shop in Chanmari West, where the deal was reported to be taking place.
During the operation, the joint team recovered two Italian-made Beretta pistols of .22 calibre, while three individuals were arrested.
However, Assam Rifes did not reveal the identities of the suspects, owing to security reasons.
The arrested individuals and the seized firearms were handed over to Vaivakawn police Station for further investigation and legal action.
