Meghalaya SEC prepared for SIR, says CEO Tiwari
Shillong: Meghalaya chief electoral officer (CEO) BDR Tiwari on Saturday said the state election commission was fully prepared for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.Earlier, on Thursday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had announced the third phase of SIR for the remaining states and Union Territories, including Meghalaya. Oct 1 has been earmarked as the qualifying date for the exercise in the state.“House-to-house survey by booth level officers (BLOs) will be carried out from June 30 to July 29, covering all polling stations,” Tiwari said.He further said the draft electoral roll will be published on Aug 5, while filing of claims and objections will be allowed till Sept 4. The final electoral roll will be published on Oct 7.
