State govt nod for new GTTC at Jewargi
Kalaburagi: The state govt has given approval for setting up of a new Govt Tool Shop and Training Centre (GTTC) at Jewargi taluk of Kalaburagi district. This was recorded as a very important milestone for the future of the young men and women of Jewargi Taluk and surrounding areas.State cabinet approved this proposal on April 30, 2026, Jewargi MLA, KKRDB president Ajay Singh said. Approval has been given to set up a new GTTC at Jewargi at a total cost of Rs 73.7 crore under the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) scheme.The decision fulfils the long-standing need for improved technical education and skill development in the Jewargi region, which is facing industrial and economic challenges. The proposed campus will include a modern training block, workshops, accommodation facility for students, staff quarters and advanced machinery, Ajay Singh said.The centre will offer diploma programmes in artificial intelligence & machine learning as well as electronics and communication engineering. Short-term skill development courses are also conducted here as per the needs of the industry.The facility is expected to train more than 750 students annually, Ajay Singh said.
Students will receive industry-linked in-plant training with a monthly stipend ranging from 15,000 to 25,000.This initiative reflects the Govt's commitment to strengthen the industrial environment of the Kalyana Karnataka region for equitable development and welfare under Article 371(J) of the Constitution.This will help increase employment opportunities for the local youth and promote inclusive economic growth, Ajay Singh said.KKRDB chairman and Jewargi MLA Ajay Singh thanked and congratulated chief minister Siddaramaiah, DCM DK Shivakumar and all cabinet ministers who approved the project of GTTC for Jewargi.
