Two youths drown in Tungabhadra

Gangavathi (Koppal): In an incident near Sanapur village, two youths lost their lives after slipping into the Tungabhadra River on Wednesday evening.The deceased were identified as Suri,18, and Abhishek,17, both residents of Gandhinagar, Gangavathi. They went to the river to take a bath, following Holi celebrations.According to Gangavathi Rural police, after lunch, three youths entered a shallow section of the river near the city. The slippery and uneven river bed caused them to lose their footing. While a youth managed to reach the riverbank safely, Suri and Abhishek drowned. Local authorities confirmed the incident, and recovery operations are currently under way. A case was registered at the Gangavathi Rural police station.
