National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, along with local officials, started the distribution of food packets, water bottles, and other essential supplies to flood-affected areas of Vijayawada on Tuesday.

In this situation, NDRF teams have been deployed we have additional teams moved by road. 6 teams have been moved from Odisha and Tamil Nadu. We have also airlifted 12 teams from Punjab, Ludhiana and Pune to give thrust in the operations. Other agencies are also doing this coordination work and the relief operations are in full swing. Before this situation, we had 9 teams available in Andhra and considering this situation additional teams have been moved and now we have 26 teams which are working 24/7 in the affected areas. As of now, more than 5,000 people have been rescued and the relief operations especially the distribution of the relief material are our priority.
Andhra Pradesh may experience another wet spell as a fresh low-pressure area (LPA) is likely to form. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Monday that a fresh-low pressure area is likely to form over west central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal around Sept 5. However, the weathermen said that it will take another two days to assess its intensity and trajectory.
