CBSE issues notice to school over fee hikes & lack of PTA

Hyderabad: After parents of students approached the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) against the Hyderabad Public School (HPS), Ramanthapur, alleging unilateral fee hikes and a lack of a functioning parent-teacher association, the board issued a notice to the school seeking an explanation.The board said the allegations levelled against the school are serious in nature and asked for clarification, as the school violated the provisions of the Affiliation and Examination Bye Laws of the Board. "The school authority is hereby directed to submit a point-wise explanation, along with supporting documents, regarding the allegations to the complainant as well as to this office within 30 days from the date of issue of this letter, failing which it will be presumed that the school has nothing to represent and the Board will take necessary action as per provisions of the Affiliation/Examination Bye-laws of the Board. This may be treated as top priority," read a notice from the board.
In their complaint, parents said they are extremely disappointed with the unilateral fee hikes that were imposed consistently over the past five years, and the way the school managed the parents and the CBSE Board, with a non-functional Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) on record for approximately the past seven or eight years.They further alleged that the school lacked in providing necessary educational standards, sufficient opportunities in sports, and minimum medical facilities. S Narsimha Reddy, principal, of the school said they have submitted a response to the CBSE and added that no irregularities, as alleged by parents, are happening at the school.
