HYDERABAD: A year after they burnt the effigies of TRS MLA Rasamayi Balakishan in Hyderabad, Karimnagar and Sircilla,
BJP SC Morcha national secretary Sogala Kumar and six BJP activists appeared before a local court. Police had filed a criminal case against Kumar and others.
After receiving the summons from the court a few days ago, Kumar and the others appeared before the judge who posted the matter to May 2023 for the next hearing.
The summons were served after Banjara Hills police filed a chargesheet against them under IPC sections 290 (punishment for public nuisance) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint). In November 2021, the MLA’s effigies were burnt in Yousufguda and Karimnagar after he allegedly made controversial remarks against PM
Narendra Modi and state BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
