Granules acquires rights for four products from Windlas
HYDERABAD: City-based pharma player Granules Pharmaceuticals on Thursday announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Granules Pharmaceuticals Inc (GPI) has acquired exclusive rights from USpharma Windlas to market and distribute four products in the US.
Granules Pharmaceuticals Inc will be responsible for the marketing and distribution of the products in the US subject to final approval by the USFDA and USpharma Windlas will receive milestone payments and share of the profits from sales.

USpharma Windlas, through its subsidiaries, holds abbreviated new drug applications (ANDAs) for Fingolimod (for multiple sclerosis), Prasugrel ( used to prevent blood clots in acute coronary syndrome), Dronedarone (Usedin treating heart rhythm disorders) and Lurasidone (to treat schizophrenia). USpharma Windlas believes it is the first applicant to file ANDAs for three of these products, Granules said.
Commenting on the deal, Krishna Prasad Chigurupati, chairman and managing director, Granules India Ltd, “The product in-licensing is a strategic move to accelerate our business expansion plans in the US by fostering long-term partnerships.”
USpharma Windlas is a JV between USpharma Ltd and Windlas Healthcare Private Limited. USpharma specializes in research, development and manufacturing of high-barrier generic pharmaceuticals.
