HYDERABAD: Union minister for commerce and industry Arun Jaitley on Saturday said the pharmaceutical industry has become one of the key sectors in the Indian economy.
At the inaugural ceremony of a Pharmaceutical Formulation Intermediates (PFI) facility at Granules India Limited at Gagillapur in Rangareddy district, he said those manufacturing cheaper products are dominating the world market.
As the drugs produced in the country are cheaper, many countries, including the US, are procuring drugs from India in huge quantities, he said. Jaitley said the health care sector has become more affordable because of the participation of private entrepreneurs. The quality of health care has also improved, he added.
