Hyderabad: Mangamma, warden of Mannanur tribal welfare girls hostel in Nagarkurnool district where more than 150 students fell sick after having contaminated food on September 14 night, has been suspended.
The authorities took the action following an uproar over the huge number of girls falling ill and many of them still undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
Several of them had to be rushed to hospitals in a lorry after they complained of breathlessness and severe stomach pain.
Health and food safety officials visited the hostel and collected food samples and also water samples for testing. They went around the hostel and inspected it for hygiene.
Doctors, who examined the girls, discharged several girls after they recovered. However, a dozen girls are still undergoing treatment in Nagarkurnool government hospital and under observation.
