HYDERABAD: Based on the directions of the National Human Rights commission, the state government on Saturday directed the DGP to pay Rs 20,000 as compensation to B Krishna Reddy, of Balaji Nagar in Nellore, for harassment by police Officials of 6th Town Police Station, Nellore.
B Krishna Reddy lodged a complaint with the NHRC against the three police officials namely K Prasada Rao inspector of police, T Vijaya Krishna, sub-inspector and Sk Mahaboob Basha, all belonging to Balaji Nagar police station in Nellore, for harassing him for no fault of his.

Based on the complaint, an enquiry was ordered by the DGP through the DIG, Guntur Range. The DIG found them guilty after which the increments of the cops was put on hold and they placed under suspension. The government on Saturday directed the DGP to pay the compensation of Rs 20,000 and recover the same amount from the errant police officials.
