HYDERABAD: What should a farmer do if he gets spurious seeds and incurs crop loss, or if he does not receive a pattadar passbook for his land, or if there are mistakes in the land records? Many farmers either lack knowledge of various Acts pertaining to spurious seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides, as well as the newly launched Bhu Bharati Act, or they do not know how to, and whom they should approach for their grievances. The Legal Empowerment and Assistance for Farmers Society (LEAP), founded by land laws expert Sunil Kumar along with others, kicked off a yatra called 'Sahu Nyaya Yatra' with the objective of enlightening farmers on laws and rules pertaining to land, seeds, and water. This event took place at Bhudan Pochampally village in Yadadri-Bhongiri district on Saturday. The yatra will continue until Oct 2, covering about 800 villages and 2,400 km in the next few months across the state. Meanwhile, the LEAP members also visited Munugode, Chandur mandal, Puttapaka, Nampally in Samanthan Narayanapur, and Mallepally village, explaining various laws to the farmers.
