Hyderabad: The state govt issued orders raising the upper age limit for direct recruitment jobs in the govt by 10 years. The enhanced upper age limit will be applicable for one year.
Chief secretary K Ramakrishna Rao issued GO No 86, raising the upper age limit from 34 years to 44 years. However, the revised upper age limit will not apply to uniformed services such as the police. Copies of the GO were marked to Telangana Public Service Commission and the police recruitment board.
The last time the govt increased the age limit was in Feb 2024 through GO No 30, which raised the maximum age limit to 46 years. However, the GO lapsed in Feb 2026, following which the upper age limit for direct recruitment reverted to 34 years. The GO issued on Monday (May 18) stated that several representations had been received from unemployed youth urging the govt to increase the upper age limit for direct recruitment.
On Tuesday, the govt directed all state departments to collect and upload comprehensive health data of govt employees, pensioners and their dependents by May 31 as part of efforts to roll out a new Employees Health Scheme through an Employee Health Care Trust (EHCT).
