hyderabad: mother teresa did not ever use wrinkle-free cream nor was she a conventional beauty, but she was still the most beautiful person in the world. and everyone, right from underworld dons to beauty queens wanted to be associated with her, wanted to be like her only because of her inherent quality of giving, congress mp renuka choudhary said. speaking at the women achiever’s awards function organised by the ladies circle india here on sunday, she said women must get proactive, go ahead and achieve.
“the achievers would be role models for young generation,� she said adding that women do not have to seek to be equals. they are, in fact, equal. the ladies circle india, for the first time, presented awards to women achievers in various fields. it plans to make this an annual event, ladies circle india president sumedha saraogi said. performing arts (dance) award to shobha naidu, performing arts (music) award to the hyderabad sisters, lalitha and haripriya, medicine award to dr jayashree kirloskar, business award to sangita reddy, public service (ias) award to sheela bhide, two awards for social service to rani kumudini devi and shantha sinha, education award to shanta rameswar rao, literature award to blikiz alladin, sports award to purnima rau, fine arts (painting) award to anjani reddy and advertising award to shantha john were presented. “balancing between home and work, i always thought it was like riding two horses at the same time. i had to maintain a balance between them for not falling down. it was tough at times, but i have managed and i hope i have managed well,� principal secretary of industries and commerce sheela bhide said while accepting the award. “i don’t know whether i deserve this award because i have done what i liked and enjoyed and did not even for a moment imagine that it would get an award at this high level,� shanta rameswar rao of vidyaranya high school said.
