Covid-19: 195 quarantined in Manipur till Friday

A total of 195 people have been quarantined in the state till now, including passengers who boarded the same flight as the Imphal girl on March 21, officials of state health directorate said.

IMPHAL: After a 23-year-old Imphal girl, who returned from UK, tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday morning, the state government has stepped up its measures to fight the spread of the deadly disease. A total of 195 people have been quarantined in the state till now, including passengers who boarded the same flight as the Imphal girl on March 21, officials of state health directorate said.

"We have kept the 195 people quarantined in different districts such as Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Tengnoupal, Chandel, Churachandpur, Senapati and Kangpokpi," state surveillance officer of the health directorate Laikhuram Tomcha Khuman said.
He added that four immediate family members of the girl, including his younger brother, who also returned from aboard and came to Imphal together in the same flight, and seven of their local neighbours have been kept at a quarantine centre in Imphal West. The younger brother had tested negative for the Covid-19 while the health condition of the girl, who is undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of JNIMS Hospital in Imphal East, is improving, Tomcha said.

The Tawang district administration put two girls from the district, who travelled in the same flight as the man who tested positive for Covid-19 in Mizoram, under home quarantine, a senior government official said here on Friday.
Over 1,400 isolated in Jorhat
More than 1,400 people, who returned to Jorhat from different parts of the country and abroad since the imposition of the lockdown, were quarantined in various parts of the district on Friday.
