Brace for intense spell of summer over next four days, south MP may see heatwave from April 16
Indore: The city is set to witness a further surge in mercury over the next four days, with the meteorological department forecasting a rise of two to four degrees in day temperature.On Tuesday, the day temperature in Indore climbed to 39.8 degrees Celsius, up from 38.8 degrees Celsius on Monday, reflecting a steady upward trend. The minimum temperature stood at 19.8 degrees Celsius. During the day, the mercury remained high, touching 38.4 degrees Celsius at 5:30 pm, while the reading at 8:30 am was 29.2 degrees Celsius.A visible shift was seen across city streets as the heat intensified. Roads wore a relatively deserted look in the afternoon, with reduced pedestrian movement and thinner traffic in exposed stretches. Many residents were seen carrying scarves, caps, umbrellas and water bottles.Bhopal Met centre official Divya Surendran said dry weather conditions prevailed across Madhya Pradesh over the past 24 hours. Satellite imagery indicated clear skies across the state, with no significant weather system currently active over the region.Heatwave conditions are likely to develop from April 16 in nearby districts, prompting caution among residents.A yellow alert for heatwave conditions has been issued from April 16 to 18 in southern districts including Ratlam, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Khandwa, Khargone, Burhanpur and Dhar. While no alerts have been issued for other regions, temperature is expected to rise across the state in the coming days.Among the hottest places on Tuesday were Ratlam at 41.4 degrees Celsius, Dhar at 40.6 degrees Celsius and Khargone at 40.2 degrees Celsius. Ujjain and Khandwa also recorded highs of 39.5 degrees Celsius each.Residents have been advised to avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours and take necessary precautions, especially for children, the elderly and those with existing health conditions, as the state prepares for an intense spell of summer heat.
