Car carrying illicit liquor seized near Dhamnod
Mhow: Dhamnod police seized liquor worth nearly Rs 1 lakh and the car being used for its transportation late Sunday night. Sub-inspector Jaikishan Raikwar of Dhamnod police station told TOI that a source provided information about a large quantity of illicit liquor being transported in a car. Consequently, the road near the highway police post in Dudhi village was barricaded on Sunday night.At about midnight, the police team noticed the car and prepared to catch it. However, the driver abandoned the car about 100m away from the barricades and disappeared into the darkness. The car was seized, and 28 cartons of country-made Desi liquor, along with three cartons of Bolt brand beer bottles, were recovered from the vehicle. A total of 277 bulk litre of liquor worth Rs 1.11 lakh and the car were seized by the police.Raikwar stated that as the driver has not yet been identified, a case under section 34(2) of the MP Excise Act has been registered against an unidentified person, and the investigation is ongoing.
