Check-list prepared for IVF centres to ensure better implementation of PCPNDT Act
Indore: The district administration has prepared a check-list for assisted reproductive technology (ART)/ in vitro fertilization (IVF) centres to ensure better implementation Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act.
“With a team of five members including officiating district collector, we have finalised 50-60 points to check irregularities in the procedures being carried out at ART/IVF centres,” PCPNDT nodal officer Satish Joshi told TOI.

He said that one of the point states that ART/IVF centres will have to maintain a complete data of the sperm and egg donors and it will be made available to the administration on regular basis.
“As per the rules, after attaining 18 years of age, the kid has all the rights to know about his biological parents. Therefore, the ART/IVF centres need to keep a record of the donors even if the sperm/eggs are brought from the banks,” said Joshi.
A two-member committee comprised of Dr Priyadashini Pandey and Dr Hemendra Dwivedi will ensure proper disposal of extra eggs, which are left after the baby is conceived and the parents do not want any more children.
“The check-list has been prepared to bring more transparency and strengthen monitoring at ART/IVF centres,” in charge collector Ruchika Chauhan told TOI.
She said that the check-list has been sent to the principal secretary (health) for approval. Once approved, the check-list will be made compulsory for all the ART/IVF centres, in the district.
On December 6, the administration had suspended registration of two ART/IVF centres on their failure to send monthly report of the procedures carried out at the facility.
