Congress units also staged protests in Indore and other districts of Malwa-Nimar region on Wednesday over rejection of Meenakshi Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination.
In Indore, party city president Chintu Choukse led a sit-in protest at Rajwada near Ahilyabai statue. In Natarajan’s former Lok Sabha constituency of
Mandsaur, party workers led by district president Mahendra Singh Gujjar observed a fast at Gandhi Chouraha. In Neemuch and Dhar’s Sardarpur, party workers tied black bands on their arms during five-hour fasts, chanting slogans against
Election Commission. Demonstrations were held in Dewas and in Khandwa, where party district president Uttampal Singh led a silent protest with their mouths covered with black strips, alleging extreme political pressure. In Burhanpur, Indore rural in-charge Ajay Singh Raghuvanshi and city chief Rinku Tak spearheaded a ‘Save Democracy’ fast at Gandhi Chowk.
