MHOW: The food and supplies officials cracked down on AB Road petrol pump in Jamli village on Saturday seizing fuel worth Rs 13 lakh being illegally transported by its staff for sale in villages.
“We had received a tip-off that a large quantity of diesel and petrol was being loaded illegally in a van. Based on the information, a team reached the pump and caught a van bearing registration number MP09 GG 0383 with 300 litres of diesel and 100 litres of petrol.
The team checked stock of the pump and found less quantity of fuel than mentioned in the record,” Mhow food and supplies officer Jitendra Shilpi told TOI.
The team seized the fuel and a case was registered against the pump owner Manjit Singh Muchal and van driver Than Singh.
Shilpi said petrol and diesel are openly sold at grocery and puncture repair shops in the whole rural area. It is against the rules of the food and supplies department. Also, many complaints about such shopkeepers selling adulterated fuel to customers in needhave been received. Adulterated fuel affects engine of vehicles and increases pollution level.
