Indore: Mandsaur city observed a partial shutdown on Saturday in protest against the recovery of cattle remains in Jivaganj area.
Markets remained closed till 2 pm after a call to shut down was given by
Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal. Activists of both organisations gathered at Balaji Temple near Nehru Bus Stand and placed their petition at the feet of the deity. "We were tired of repeatedly submitting applications to the administration. We now came to pray that the deity grant the administration wisdom to take proper action against the incidents occurring in the city," Hemant Moolchandani, representing the protesters said.

The shutdown remained peaceful, with no reports of untoward incidents. In the morning, members of Hindu community and affiliated organisations took out a rally, requesting shopkeepers who had opened for business to close their establishments until the designated time.
