His body was found on September 22 in Nangal Bharda village following which police started the investigation. The accused arrested recently was identified as Sanjeev Badotia while another, Arjun Badotia, is already in judicial custody.
“The first task was to identify the deceased as his face was completely crushed and there were no ids on him. Finally, the victim was identified. He was staying in Kho Nagoriyan area. We contacted his family and friends who took the investigation forward,” said an official.
The probe revealed that two weeks prior to the murder, the victim and the accused were involved in a scuffle. The victim had allegedly slapped Arjun who planned to avenge it. On September 21, the accused called Sonu to an isolated location under false pretext and thrashed him brutally with iron rods.
They attacked his face and head till he died. They mutilated his face so he could not be identified. Police claimed that the accused had also planned to dispose of the body and were equipped with material to do so. “The accused had around 10 bags of salt which they poured on the victim’s body hoping that it would lead no traces and the body would be disposed of,” added the official. A case under IPC’s Section 302 (murder) was registered.
